Mess & Canteen

Vidyadhiraja Vidyapeetom Sainik School

The Cadets' Mess is a place of dignity, prayer, and fellowship. Every meal is an opportunity to practise discipline, courtesy, and gratitude.

General

  • Cadets’ Mess is the formal Dining Hall of Vidyadhiraja Vidyapeetom Central and Sainik School. All members will conduct themselves with dignity and decorum at all times in the Mess.
  • All Cadets will be seated before the prayer bell.
  • Entry/Exit from the mess will always be in a dignified manner. The prayer will be recited solemnly before and after each meal.
  • It is compulsory for all cadets to be present for all meals. Only Cadets admitted in the Infirmary are exempted.
  • Cadets will enter the mess in the prescribed dress only. Shirts will always be tucked in. Shoes will be worn.
  • Be courteous to the Mess Staff at all times. Complaints, if any, will be brought to the notice of Mess Manager only. Suggestions/recommendations if any may be entered in a register available in the mess.
  • Do not tamper, touch or damage Mess property or fitments. All damages/ breakages attributable to cadets will be made good from cadet’s Pocket Money account.
  • Cadets are not permitted to bring their guests to the Mess.
  • Handle Mess furniture with due care. Please stack the chairs as prescribed after each meal.
  • Silence during meal time is appropriate. Voice levels should never exceed a murmur.

Dining Etiquettes

  • Personal hygiene and cleanliness before, during and after meals at the Mess will always be ensured.
  • Sit straight while having your meal. Do not slouch over the table.
  • Do not speak with food in mouth. While chewing, the mouth should remain closed.
  • Pass the vessels / bowls of food as quickly as possible so that your fellow cadets also get the food in time.
  • Do not spill water on the tables or on the floor.
  • Eat well but avoid wastage. Remember wasting food is a sin.
  • Do not share the food served in your plate with others.
  • Do not litter. Help us to keep the Mess premises clean at all times.
  • Spoons and forks provided will be used in the correct manner specified.
  • While dining, elbows will not be placed on the table.
  • Please follow all Mess instructions in letter and spirit.
